DBU backs RiDERgy in its Green Start-up programme

26 October 2026

The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) is funding RiDERgy with EUR 125,000 through its Green Start-up programme, running December 2025 to December 2027, to advance RiDERgy's AI-driven energy management software for commercial EV fleets.

Berlin, 26 October 2026. The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU), Germany's federal environmental foundation, is supporting RiDERgy GmbH through its Green Start-up programme. The DBU is funding the project "FI SuN: RiDERgy's Advanced Energy Management Software" with EUR 125,000 over two years, from 17 December 2025 to 17 December 2027.

Why it matters

Commercial fleets are electrifying faster than grid connections can grow. At many depots the limit is no longer the vehicles or the chargers, but how much power the site connection allows and when each vehicle charges. RiDERgy's AI-driven energy management software optimizes EV fleet charging and flexible site loads to cut costs and emissions while respecting grid constraints and ensuring high uptime. Operators charge more vehicles on the connection they already have, without waiting for a costly grid upgrade.

About the Green Start-up programme

With its Green Start-up programme, the DBU supports founders who develop environmentally beneficial, innovative and economically viable business models. The programme provides up to EUR 125,000 per start-up as a non-repayable grant. The DBU lists the RiDERgy project under climate protection, resource conservation, environmental research and environmental technology in its project database.

Meeting the DBU community

In October 2026, RiDERgy's CEO Claudio Geyken joined the DBU's Green Start-up Event, held on the weekend on which the DBU presented the Deutscher Umweltpreis 2026 in Aachen to Dr. Roda Verheyen and Klaus Vossenkaul.

"Germany can be glad to have an organisation like the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, which has supported this kind of work for decades. We are delighted that the DBU is supporting RiDERgy in its Green Start-up programme this year," says Claudio Geyken, CEO and co-founder of RiDERgy. "Beyond the green startup programme we see further potential in participating in more programs related to grid congestion management, one of the most important challenges for the success of the energy transition as well as in the wider community of environmentalists."
