RiDERgy explores partnership with APCOA

10 September 2024

As part of the prototype club competition at IAA TRANSPORTATION, RiDERgy spoke to the APCOA team about managing energy at their new Urban Hubs: 13,000 parking sites with up to 100,000 chargers planned, built for last-mile fleets.

APCOA Group and APCOA Sustainability in Action are making moves in the e-mobility space. They are leveraging 13,000 parking sites to create the APCOA Urban Hubs, which will serve as key infrastructure for urban mobility and logistics. With up to 100,000 chargers planned over the next few years, the Urban Hubs will help many companies continue the transition to EVs.

Questions about managing energy at these facilities are why our CEO Claudio Geyken spoke to the APCOA team at IAA TRANSPORTATION on 19 September, as part of prototype.club. APCOA's challenge asked startups for ideas to turn parking spaces into multifunctional hubs: urban warehouses, micro-depots, secure bicycle and motorbike parking, smart charging infrastructure and efficient fleet management.

The other startups present were PIONIX, SimParQ, EatFresh, fleetbay, Charge at Friends and Waterman. Niels Christ, who directs Urban Hubs, praised the in-depth discussions and indicated that promising collaborations with some of the startups are on the horizon.
